A serum is something you either love to have in your skincare routine or you just don’t bother with this additional step. I used to skip serums in the past because it seemed too much effort for something that I wasn’t sure would work. Also, most serums are expensive so I thought that I was saving money. However, after trying out a few samples of serums and seeing how some of them transformed my skin for the better, my opinion has changed. Not every serum will turn your world upside down, but if you have skin issues and choose the right serum to target them, most times, you’ll see desired results.
Anyway, I recently started using this S5 Skincare Illuminate Serum and wanted to share my thoughts. If you haven’t heard about S5 Skincare before, it’s British organic beauty brand, which focuses on some of the major skincare concerns (like, pigmentation, extremely dry skin, fine lines or blemishes). All the products contain ingredients specifically formulated to solve the exact problem. The Illuminate Serum, for example, contains ingredients such as Alpine plants, high-altitude maca, papaya enzymes, and marine laminaria that focuses on evening out, illuminating, and lightening the skin.
I like the packaging of this Illuminate Serum. It comes in a 30ml glass bottle with a lid, but there’s also a pipette included in the box. I love it so much because this makes the bottle convenient for traveling, just put the lid back on and you’re good to go. The serum has a sweet scent, which reminds me of candy. The consistency is a thick gel, which feels slightly cooling and refreshing on the skin. It sinks in completely in a matter of seconds and leaves the skin soft but firm. You can use your day cream straight away (which is a must, because this is not a hydrating serum) If you’re bored of oil serums, this might be a nice change-up.
To describe what the Illuminate Serum does, I’d say this is a lightening treatment designed for stressed, uneven, inflamed skin, and skin suffering from hyperpigmentation. I chose this serum because it accurately portrays my current skin condition, so I hoped it would help me deal with these concerns. Though I don’t suffer from severe hyperpigmentation, but I have a few dark spots on my cheeks that I’d like to disappear. However, I would like to use the serum longer in order to comment on whether it works for that. What I can say is that it instantly leaves my skin visibly more even, brighter, and with a healthy glow.
S5 Skincare Illuminate Serum is available at Naturisimo and S5 Skincare for $53/£44. If you’re undecided on whether to get the full-size bottle (or get it at all), the serums are also available in 5ml samples.
Which serum is your all-time favorite? Have you tried S5 Skincare serums?
I have not tested this brand yet, I have to try soon!
