REN Clean Skincare Perfect Canvas Silicone Free Skin Finishing Serum

There’s no going back after trying out REN Clean Skincare products. Despite the brand’s controversy, it’s hard not to be absolutely smitten with their products and beautiful packaging. Speaking of which, REN’s minimalist packaging design is right up my alley – simple tubes and bottles, each range color-coded for easier reference. But I’m here not to talk about the whole range, but to introduce one of my newest additions to my skincare/makeup routine – REN Perfect Canvas Silicone Free Skin Finishing Serum*. This Priming Serum is the definition of minimalist packaging, by the way. Also, having a dropper is very convenient because it’s easy to dose. And trust me, you’d want no drop to go to waste of this precious thing.

Described as a light-textured, silicone-free serum, created to restore moisture balance (using agave extract) and prep the skin for makeup by also smoothing (thanks to probiotics) and lifting (by using natural sugars). It was created as an alternative for those tacky silicone primers, and I must say the alternative is a success. However, it should not be used without a good moisturizer prior because I noticed my skin getting a bit on the drier side after using the primer daily on its own. After all, it’s a primer, it’s not supposed to moisturize the skin.

Another thing that I liked a lot is that my foundation goes on considerably smoother. I didn’t notice if my makeup stays on longer, because I’ve been wearing my makeup for a shorter time these days, but I read many reviews that it definitely prolongs the wear. So overall, it’s a lovely priming serum, and considering that its scent is also a nice one – gentle, sweet natural fragrance, it’s a pleasure to use it.
