Deodorant is something that I can’t imagine my daily routine without. Especially now, in this super hot weather. Lots of endless discussions are going on about how toxic and dangerous drugstore deodorants could be. The main reason is that these deodorants contain Aluminum Chlorohydrate or Aluminum Zirconium. According to cancer.org, there’s only little scientific evidence to support the claim that breast cancer risk and antiperspirant use are linked. However, aluminum blocks sweat glands and keeps sweat from getting to the skin’s surface. Our body is smart, it has other ways to get rid of the toxins, but the main concern is that it’s not really 100% proven or denied whether aluminum tends to build up in the body, so when there’s a possibility, there’s always a worry.
PitROK Crystal Deodorant (50ml) and Crystal Deodorant Wipes (discontinued) come in a cute white and gold package. They both have a strong sweet scent. This makes them feel a lot more like a perfume rather than a deodorant. These products are formulated without Aluminum and Aluminum zirconium. Instead, there’s Ammonium alum – a natural mineral salt.
Also, the PitROK Crystal range is created without parabens, SLS, SLES, propylene glycol, or silicones (which might also block sweat glands). The products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. However, I have to be honest and say that although these products are made without a lot of avoided nasties, they contain a few questionable ingredients. So while these deodorants might be a better alternative for convenient drugstore deodorants and antiperspirants, they are not 100% natural.
