My Skincare Stash: the Vitamin C Family

Organic Vitamin C SkincareIt’s official, 2020 is the year of products with vitamin C for me, and it seems that my obsession continues to grow. I must admit, I was a bit indifferent towards this ingredient before, but after reading about the benefits, I got curious and started doing my research. It turns out, vitamin C is legendary for a few reasons:

– It’s an antioxidant that fights free radicals;
– It helps your skin to regenerate and heal. This is actually the main reason why I continued to use products with vitamin C – they obviously make my skin less inflamed and more even;
– Stimulates collagen production. Vitamin C is a well-known ingredient for slowing down the aging process. It’s not something I use it for, but I like knowing that it takes care of my skin.

Here are the products with vitamin C that I’m currently owning:
Novexpert is a French natural skincare company that I first heard about last year. Its products are focused around anti-aging ingredients such as vitamin C or hyaluronic acid. I’ve tried a few products from their range, but there were two that I liked and kept using. The Express Radiance Cleansing Foam, which feels soft and luxurious on the skin while making it clean, and Novexpert Vitamin C Booster – an excellent vitamin C serum with a lovely light consistency. However, the booster does seem like it slightly stains my skin, which I think is weird. So I’ll finish it up, but I don’t think I’m going to repurchase.

I already wrote about Trilogy Vitamin C Moisturizing Lotion and John Masters Organics Vitamin C Serum that I’ve got from Love Lula here, if you fancy a more detailed review on any of these two items. However, I’ll quickly say that the serum turned out a success, and the moisturizing lotion went to my friend, who has more oily skin and doesn’t need as much hydration (she loves it).

Even though The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% has made it to this list, I have to be upfront and say that this product has the worst texture that I’ve ever experienced in a skincare product. It’s incredibly thick and has some kind of pellets in it that feel rough and irritate my skin even during application. The only positive thing I can say about it is that the Ordinary products have a lovely, minimalistic packaging.

InstaNatural Vitamin C Serum was a major go-to of mine. It’s a small sample, but because it’s an oil serum, I got lovely use of it. It’s a perfect consistency – not too heavy – that leaves my skin comfortable. I don’t even need a moisturizer after applying it.

I can not say the same about Avalon Organics Intense Defence Antioxidant Oil. It’s very thick, and the greasiness stays on the skin for some time. I find it comfortable to use it when my skin feels more dry than usual (like, wintertime), but even then it’s not ideal. Also, I wouldn’t use it right before bed, because it definitely stains the pillow. What I liked was that it gives a lot of glow to my skin and considering its price point and the benefits, it’s not the worst product out there. However, I don’t think I would repurchase.

Do you use any skincare with vitamin C? What are your favorites?
