Skincare is something I take very seriously because my skin doesn’t like a chaotic routine at all, and instantly shows what it thinks by rewarding me with dry patches or inflammation. As you can see, I don’t use a lot of products in the morning. However, every one of these is a great help for my skin in winter.
Despite my skin being dry (towards normal if I’m lucky), I still cleanse my face every morning with foam cleansers. Foam cleansers are my favorite and, although some of them might be quite drying, I find this Alterra Foam Cleanser gentle and effective. A toner is something I try very hard to incorporate into my morning routine. At the moment, I use Primavera Rose Water Revitalizing Toner. I’m not head over heels in love with it, but since I have a sample of it that needs to be used up before it expires, I made it a part of my routine. Dry skin is not a skin type where you can skip a moisturizer. Using a good cream that would give plenty of moisture is crucial, especially now in winter. I just finished my John Masters Organics Rose & Apricot Day Cream, and now I’m using Weleda Skin Food. Skin Food is the mother of winter moisturizers. I don’t know that many creams that are so nourishing without feeling too greasy, do you? Another morning skincare essential is Dr. Hauschka Rejuvenating Mask. I am so grateful to Dr. Hauschka for having sample size products because this little tube lasts me a very long time. This is my emergency product, which I sometimes use topically on dry patches. The only thing missing in my routine is an eye cream, I really need to get one soon. Any suggestions?
I found something that really works for me when my skin feels dry in winter (usually I have more of a combination/ normal skin): it’s layering, and most important topping everything with an oil! I don’t wash my skin in the morning because otherwise it feels to dry. I use a pure hydrolat (this days I’m using rose, my favourite), then aloe vera gel (sometimes whith a few drops of pure cucumber extract, very moisturizing), a moisturizing cream, and finally an oil. I swear I never saw my skin so clear and plump! As an eyecream, for winter, if you… Read more »
Thank you for the suggestions!
I love hydrolats for toning (especially, helichrysum, lavender or carrot seed)! Or just plain cold chamomile/calendula tea, but this one takes too much time in the mornings, so I often use it in the evenings if I’m not too lazy 🙂
Rosehip oil around the eyes sounds great, I’ll definitely think about it!
I can say that a fully satisfying eye cream is very hard to come by and I am still on my quest. At the moment I am using YESto blueberries eye treatment and I think it is ok for winter, moisturising and has a good ingredient list.

It is hard to come by a good eye cream! I like Lavera Roll On Eye Cream, but would like to try something different this time.
Alright, I need that Welda. My skin has been so dry this winter!
I think you will not be disappointed with it 🙂
ooh I love posts like this! All of these are so interesting to try specially that Altera foam cleanser, Id love to try and add that for My morning routine too. xx
It’s great 🙂 And the price is good too.
Odylique Superfruit is one of my all time favourite products 🙂
It is a miracle worker alright! 🙂
Loved seeing your routine! I’m glad you’re enjoying the Skin Food 🙂 Would you believe I’ve never used it on my face? Will have to give it a try now!
Thank you, Caitie 🙂 You have to try it!
Some lovely products, they all sound great and I really need to try Weleda’s Skin Food! x
Thank you, Tania!
Hi
Thanks for following me on instagram. As eye cream, I use jojoba oil and it works great. You should try 😉
Thanks for the tip! Happy to connect with you 🙂
Hello! I’m new to your site and I love this post! I haven’t heard of the Alterra face wash, I’ll have to check it out though I’m usually not a fan of foam cleansers. I typically use oils or cream cleansers with my dry skin. I haven’t used the Weleda skin food but I couldn’t survive without the Weleda White Mallow Face Cream! It’s part of the baby care but it’s so gentle and so effective! I also love the Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics eye balm, it’s kinda pricey but it lasts forever and hydrates so well!!
Hi Michelle, Alterra is really hard to find in countries other than Germany, so that’s probably why you haven’t heard about them! My skin is dry too. Any cleansers you would recommend??
Mmmm I love spray toners! Does it have alcohol in it?
Yes, I believe this one has organic alcohol inside 🙂
I love Skin Food, it is a god send on my hands in the winter. I even use it in the summer after my hands have been in the dirt 🙂
I’m glad you like it as much as I do 🙂
