During my last shopping haul, I bought a mini size (10 ml) of Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream – a very desirable item. I heard so many good things about it, so I was eager to try it and find out what all the fuss was about.
I am not that big of a fan of first impression reviews (opinions can be very different after using a product more than a few times), so I did a little experiment that lasted 7 days straight, just to give a full review on what I have experienced.
Before writing down the results, I shortly want to explain my skin – if you read some of my earlier skin care posts, you know that I have dry, sensitive, prone to redness skin. I avoid any kind of intense exfoliators and cleansers, especially all of these suitable for all skin types because I’m afraid my skin would freak out. So, it’s fair to say that, although I was in love with Dr. Hauschka’s Moisturizing Day Cream, I was a bit skeptical about the Cleansing Cream.
How does it look like: Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream (sample size) comes in a small 10 ml white tube with a logo on it. The container might look small, but even the sample size will last you quite a while (lasted more than 7 days for me). The smell is totally herbal. The cream is very thick with tiny, but noticeable grains in it. However, the grains were a lot smaller than in most exfoliators I’ve ever tried in the past. Which is a good thing for gentle and deeper skin cleansing, I suppose.
How to use it: remove your makeup (note that Dr. Hauschka’s Cleansing Cream is not suitable for removing makeup! Use Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Milk or your favorite makeup remover), then make sure your face is REALLY wet, and apply the Cleansing Cream. I know that visual lessons might help more, so here’s the video of Dr. Hauschka expert explaining how to use Cleansing Cream properly. Start with your forehead pressing the cream gently, then move down to your nose, cheeks, chin, and neck (if you want).
I’ve been using it on my face exactly like Dr. Hauschka suggested, pressing the cream gently (twice a day), for 7 days. Remember NO RUBBING into the skin or any fast, circular motions. The first time I’ve tried it, all I could think of was – I don’t feel anything special. Well, I finished all the procedure and washed my face with a huge amount of water (still no rubbing) before heading for a towel. Then I touched my skin.. and was, like, WOW! It felt smooth, clean, and even moisturized. Like after using a light moisturizing cream or something. I have continued the experiment for 6 more days and every time was happy with the result. The Cleansing Cream completely removed dry patches on my cheeks, so makeup went on my skin like butter on bread (sorry for the comparison, but it’s that close). Also, I haven’t noticed any skin irritations, so it’s safe to use for sensitive skin as long as you’re doing it right. However, I noticed some cons here too. I was satisfied with the results, but after 7 days of daily cleansing my skin felt a little bit dryer on my forehead and required a bit more care. I suppose I should better use it every other day or even once a week.
Overall, if you’re looking for a product that would keep your face and pores clean (-er), I would say it’s really worth giving a try.
Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream is available at any Dr. Hauschka stockist or online at Dr. Hauschka (US) or Feelunique (UK / the rest of Europe).
Have you tried cleansing with Dr. Hauschka’s Cleansing Cream? Did you see any positive improvements for your skin?
The only product on this Planet I can’t live without! I’ve been using it for ~5 years now. Every time I tried something new for a change, I returned to this CC. I am using it twice a day, during cold season – once a day. If you want to use it once a day, it’s highly recommended to do that in the mornings as CC absorbs all the stuff that comes out your pores during the nightime – the time when skin really works and regenerates itself while you sleep.
Hello Storas Pomidoras,
I am glad you like this cleansing cream too!
Thanks for the advice! To be honest, I continued using it in the mornings rather than evenings because my skin feels really smoother, cleaner after it and it’s so much easier to apply makeup on.
