When you live in a climate where almost 6 out of 12 months are mostly cold and unpredictable, you need something you can rely on at all times. That’s what Shea Butter has always been to me – a rescuer. Currently, my skin is normal/dry; however, I remember well when a few years ago it decided to protest against winter and became so dry it started cracking (no kidding!). No creams or serums were helping, I mean, they did soften the skin for the moment, but the dryness kept returning. I guess it had something to do with constant temperature changes + central heating + not drinking enough water + my skin was already dry. I don’t remember who suggested trying shea butter, at the time I was a bit skeptical about using oils for my face (none of the rich creams helped me, remember?). But I bought a jar of raw, unrefined shea butter and started using it. You can imagine my surprise when my skin began to feel relieved, soothed, moisturized, and comfortable even after the first day. At the same time, my aunt started using shea butter to soothe my little cousin’s dermatitis, and it worked once again.
Anyway, stories aside, I’d like to introduce Le Beurre, a natural and handmade skincare line made with 100% raw, unrefined shea butter. There are three types of products in their range: shea butter body creams, shea butter face creams, and shea butter lip balms. In each product, there’s over 80% shea butter, and the other ingredients are cold-pressed oils and essential oils. Apart from soothing dry skin, shea butter also prevents skin rashes (including rashes caused by eczema and dermatitis), helps to heal bruises, soothes sunburns, adds elasticity to the skin, contributes to reducing the appearance of fine lines, blemishes, and acne, prevents stretch marks. So as you can see it’s rather multi-tasking.
Beurre Shea Butter Body Creams* (113g): what I like the most about Beurre body creams is that even in their solid state they are soft and therefore easy to apply. They are still very creamy and super moisturizing, but I’m glad I don’t have to warm up shea butter in my hand before using it.
You can choose from 5 scents:
*Lavender (my favorite, of course)
*Vanilla (very soft, subtle scent of vanilla)
*Lemongrass (soft, subtle citrus scent – my second favorite)
*Sage (kind of minty smell)
*Unscented (a natural scent of shea butter) – a great choice for sensitive skin or babies.
Beurre Ultra Rich Face Cream* (sample): a mix of shea butter, monoi oil, and Tahitian coconut oil infused with Tahitian gardenia flowers. The cream is lovely to apply and makes my face soft and comfortable. Yes, it’s greasy and takes A LOT of time to sink in, so you should use it if you need skin protection or have extremely dehydrated skin.
Beurre Shea Butter Lip Balm* (15g): made with soy wax, shea butter, and jojoba oil, it has the most solid consistency of the whole bunch. I like its tin, which is handy and easy to carry around. Unfortunately, it’s unscented, which means it smells like pure shea butter (not sure if that’s even a downside). Makes a nice lip protectant and moisturizer, but I’m not too excited about it.
You can read more about Beurre and shop the products at Le Beurre Shop.
Do you use shea butter?
I’ve known about shea butter for a while but have started using it just recently! I think it’s perfect for cold winter months as it prevents my skin from drying out.
It does a good job preventing dryness 🙂
Sounds nourishing and great for winter weathered skin! I am eyeing the vanilla body cream.
It smells really nice 🙂
Shea butter is amazing, I love it so much!<3 xx
It’s great! 🙂 x
Absolutely huge fan of any thing that has unrefined shea butter! It is such a great moisturiser which is perfect for anyone that suffers with dry skin or is effected by skin disorders such as eczema.
