A few months ago, I wrote about a German beauty brand Alterra. I then bought a bunch of its haircare and makeup products. Alterra is a certified organic beauty brand with highly affordable products, and even though its mascaras didn’t wow me, the Cleansing Foam did. The reason why I’m reviewing these haircare items only now is that it took me some time to (finally) finish them all:
Alterra Volume Shampoo: made with organic papaya extract. I was actually surprised by how nice my hair felt after using this shampoo. It didn’t give much volume, but cleansed the hair well and left it light and revived. Most volumizing shampoos tend to dry out my hair, but this one didn’t. It cost me about 5 EUR for 200ml, what a fantastic deal.
Alterra Caffeine Shampoo is a stimulating and strengthening shampoo for weak and thin hair. It contains biotin, caffeine, and guarana – ingredients that give vitality and strength for the hair. To be frank, this is an average shampoo, which is a nice choice if you want an affordable everyday organic product with no particular requirements. Though I’m not going to miss it.
Alterra Pomegranate & Aloe Vera Moisturizing Hair Mask with aloe vera and extracts of pomegranate and acacia flowers. A good quality product with a great price tag (5 EUR for 150ml). The mask makes the hair smooth, and it also smells fantastic. However, I noticed that you have to keep it for at least 15-20 minutes (or even longer, if you have the time) to see any visible results.
Have you tried Alterra Naturkosmetik?
Excellent prices. Not a brand I’ve seen around in the UK, will have a look out for them in the future. 🙂 x
If you’ll ever visit Germany, go to the Rossmann drugstore. I believe, Alterra’s their brand, so you’ll find a lot of goodies there.
Never used Alterra before. I am not so keen on the natural shampoos, but will check the hair mask out. Thank you)))
I know what you mean! Have you tried Desert Essence shampoos? They’re awesome and their prices don’t bite 🙂
I am a big fan of dessert essence shampoo ! and their body moisturizers.
Nice to know, Maria 🙂 They’re really worth checking out!
Oh I love many Alterra products, but there are good an bad ones. I never tried the shampoos because they are not certified by natrue, bdih or ecocert, but I love their make-up products like the extreme volume mascara and another favourite of mine is the fruity cleansing foam!
xx Julia 🙂
In my opinion, there are better natural shampoos out there. However, the Volume shampoo is worth a try, it’s not certified, but the ingredient list isn’t bad at all.
Cleansing foam is my absolute favorite too, it’s sooo good!
Finding a great organic shampoo is hard. I am currently using alba and ferlo brothers. I would love to try Yarok.
Do you mean Alba Botanica? Which one’s your favorite?
Haven’t heard about Ferlo Brothers though, could you please share a link leading to them? 🙂
