This might sound strange to some, but I never get my nails done professionally. I also rarely paint them or do anything else besides a regular trim. However, from time to time my cuticles start looking dry and crusty, and this is not something I want my nails to look like. So I do a mini nail spa session at home by soaking the nails in Epsom salt and saturating my cuticles with some oils afterward. I usually apply raw coconut oil and it works well, but sometimes it’s really nice to use something fancier, like these two cuticle oils from Glossworks and Lauren B.
First, it’s Glossworks Nail and Cuticle Oil* (9ml / $15 – £12) with its clean, minimalist packaging. The small bottle comes with a dropper, which saves you from using too much product. It’s not only the packaging that is minimal, but the ingredient list is also short and sweet with only two ingredients: avocado oil and the African pencil cedar. Avocado oil is one of the richest oils with vitamins such as A, D and E as well as it’s highly moisturizing. The oil has a gentle scent and leaves my cuticles soft and protected for a while even after it dries out.
Lauren B Reparative Cuticle Oil (10 ml / $22 – £17) is very different from Glossworks minimalist vibes. The oil is packed with 14 natural plant oils responsible for caring for, moisturizing and healing dry, chapped cuticles. What I really like about this oil is the pretty packaging, which is small and convenient to take on the go. The oil also has a mild pleasant scent to it.
Do you use cuticle oils? If so, what’s the one you swear by?
