ROUNDUP | Natural Dry Shampoos

Dry shampoo is a real savior for many of us, girls, who want to keep our hair looking fresh and clean without washing it frequently. Usually, I wash my hair every other day, but since including natural dry shampoos in my haircare routine, I wash them once in three, or, if I’m lucky and my hair isn’t acting out, once in four days. My roots tend to get oily quickly, so going so long without washing my hair is a huge success for me. Anyway, here are three dry shampoos that I’ve been trying out lately, and I thought this review and comparison might be useful.

TINTS OF NATURE ORGANIC DRY SHAMPOO* 15g / $14 – £11.99
Some of you might already know Tints of Nature as a more natural hair color brand. However, not too long ago, it expanded its range with a line of hair care items, such as shampoos, conditioners, treatments, and a dry shampoo, which is featured in this review.

Tints of Nature dry shampoo comes in a simple, travel-friendly bottle with a nozzle, which, I must say, is very convenient to use, because you don’t need to touch the product at all. Just point the nozzle to your roots, press the cap and – poof – it releases a white cloud of a dry shampoo. Not too much, not too little. Just make sure you shake the bottle after each spray. I go through all the roots, wait a few minutes and then gently massage my scalp with fingers. If I feel that some areas are still oily, I spray some more product just onto those areas. It sinks in nicely and completely without leaving any white or gray residue. Though it doesn’t give me much volume, my roots look clean and fresh. The product is supposed to last up to 100+ washes. More or less, depending on how much product you use each time.

This dry shampoo has a gentle citrus scent, which isn’t really detectable in hair. I like this “less is more” policy a lot, because there’s nothing more sad than a great product that works, but has an overpowering and irritating scent. One more thing that I thought would be interesting to mention is that, as you can see from the ingredient list, this dry shampoo doesn’t contain baking soda, which is pretty rare in natural dry shampoos.

CAPTAIN BLANKENSHIP MERMAID DRY SHAMPOO* full size is 112 g / $26.95 – £22
This is a sample size (30 grams) natural dry shampoo. Its full-size bottle comes in three times larger container of 112 grams. However, it seems that these 30 grams will last me a long while. Also, I like the travel-size version very much as it’s so tiny and fits everywhere so I can carry it around with me. Another thing that I like a lot about this Mermaid dry shampoo is its floral scent, which makes me feel like I’m in a flower garden or something.

You have to apply this dry shampoo by sprinkling the powder on the roots where necessary and then gently rubbing it in with fingers. This is where the other two dry shampoos that I’m mentioning in this review has the upper hand – the sprays are less messy and easier to dose. Also, I notice that I end up using it much more than the other two dry shampoos. However, despite that, the Mermaid dry shampoo doesn’t leave any white or gray cast. It makes my hair voluminous and clean.

TABITHA JAMES KRAAN ORGANIC DRY SHAMPOO* for dark hair 15 ml / $27 – £19
I’ve been using this dry shampoo since June, and my opinion about it hasn’t changed much. As you can see, the packaging is stunning and luxurious. However, it’s a shame that the pump was broken when I received the shampoo, so I couldn’t enjoy the full experience of this product. The broken pump didn’t bother me at first, but I kept wasting some product each time I opened the bottle.

Other than that, I still like how it performs – it leaves my roots clean and nicely lifted, but not too voluminous. I think it’s important to monitor how much of this dry shampoo you’re applying because even though it contains cacao powder to avoid white cast on dark roots, it still might make the roots a bit grayish if you get carried away with it. So, little goes a long way and gets you great results with this dry shampoo.
